Literature review tips

By

I never really knew exactly how to do a literature review but over the past few months, I have picked up on some helpful tips.

  1. Write out your research title
  2. Pick out keywords/nouns from your title
  3. connect the nouns that you have picked out with the literature that you are reading and focus on what you want the literature to tell you based on each noun.
  4. when reading literature, pick out the research question, the answer to the question and the extent to which the literature helps you to understand specific elements of your paper.
  5. Then survey the questions that have been answered and that have not been answered and your way forward…decide on which questions you want to continue tackling/developing.

…and voila…you should have decent review that will help you find research gaps and angles for your paper.
